Growing up, I had not been the creative type with a very black and white mindset on my future goals. I stumbled upon photography while at Pismo Beach one evening at the age of 17 with my point-and-shoot. I quickly realized the talent I possess and it became a passion. For the rest of the year I had taught myself everything I could about photography on that camera. Everyday yielded a new opportunity and I very soon was offered to borrow my first D-SLR from my school's principle. After that my photography launched a whole new mindset for me. Photography quickly became a way for me to release a lot of the stress in my life, and it flourished. I soon found the symbolic style of art that best suited my personality; it was a European version of photography that used Long Exposures with Minimalistic principles in Black and White. Ever since, I have taken great inspiration from famous photographers such as Xavier Rey, Michel Rajkovic, Sebastien Grebille and Nilgun Kara. One of the only American Photographers I've seen who practices this, I take great pride in spearheading this endeavor and seek to bring more attention to this unbelievably difficult art. I'm most drawn to this style of art because it seems to provoke thoughts beyond what the artist originally had in mind. My favorite places to shoot are coastal landscapes and scenery. The ocean for me is a place where, despite other people, I can be alone to my thoughts drawn out by the white noise. The ocean also symbolizes a lot to me in my photos, it's something that is rough, unstable and dangerous and through my photography I can smooth it out and make it constant. My favorite location to shoot is in La Jolla, California's Jewel.
