  • North Star Academy: CELESTTE

    SAN MARCOS, CA - Local students received a taste of art as paint splattered the walls of Twin Oaks Gallery on Saturday. A young artist reception featuring students from North Star Academy showcased Jackson Pollock inspired art on January 31 and were treated to a live demonstration by award winning abstract artist, Celestte.

    Friends and families of the local home based school were invited by the Gallery to take part in a public exhibit featuring art taught by instructor Jillene Rios. In addition to experiencing their own art show, featured artist Celestte brought out her canvas and paints and gave a live performance based on abstract expressionism.

    The young artists were also given the opportunity to discuss and share their own work with Celestte. She answered questions and took pictures with the students.

  • NORTH STAR ACADEMY: SHARIF CARTER



    K-3 students and their families joined Jazz Artist Sharif Carter in an interactive art show that really got the kids painting. Using watercolors the kids got to experiment with different art concepts after making their mark on 2 large, yellow murals.


     

  • TODD SANDERS: POP ART


    Todd Sanders and Northstar 2nd-5th grade students celebrated the world of pop art with pieces inspired by Keith Haring, Dale Chihuly, Andy Warhol and George Rodrigue. The Students worked together to create a 4x4ft sign for Twin Oaks Gallery using bright colors, bold lines and techniques taught by art specialist Jillene Rios and guest instructor Sanders.
